Can I be evicted as a non tennant?
I have been subletting a house from a friend who is on the lease. Apparently he told the landlords that he moved out months ago. We have paid rent directly to the property management with receipts. We received a 3 day notice on our door to move out adressed to the lease holder and "other occupants". But we have been paying rent and did nothing wrong. I tried to get on the lease, but they said absolutely not and to move out. Do I have a right because I lived in this house for 2 months while paying rent? The lease holder told property management that he still rents a room even though he rents another house. If they can evict us how long does the case take if taken to court in California? What happens if we do not pay rent after the eviction notice? Or what happens if we keep paying rent?
