Can I sue in small claims for rental money?

I gave my tenant an eviction notice, but she hasn't and isn't paying the rent. I know I can go to housing court in 14 days to start suing for recovery of rent, but, I really can't wait that long and I'd like to sue in small claims court before the 14 days. Can I?
