Can My landlord use self help eviction?

My landlord gave me a 5 day pay rent or quit in ILLINOIS. I am currently trying to find some where else to live because i cant afford rent here any more. I haven't been able to pay the landlord in 3 months."I know that's bad". I told the landlord i would sign a legal agreement with him to pay the rent in a timely manner.But now hes gonna be taking me to court cause I cant pay the whole 1,400 dollars in 5 days. When he served me with the notice he went out the same day and had the cable that is in the agreement turned off. Now I know its only cable, but that is considered as self help eviction right and is illegal correct? The reason i ask is because it would be stupid for them to take me to court and ask them to make me pay the full rent if they broke the contract prior to the court date right? The cable is paid for by the landlord so how can they expect to get the full amount if they are taking out the cable the same day? btw hope they don't shut off my water I have 2 kids
