Can my landlord charge me a months rent for not giving notice to terminate?
I am on a 6 month lease with my landlord in a Michigan house that has had several problems that went unfixed. We told the landlord we would not be resigning a lease 8 days before the end of our lease. He is threatening that we owe him another months rent for not giving 30 days notice or he will start court proceedings. No where in the lease does it state that we have to give 30 days. He said he would treat it as if we signed another lease and file a notice for eviction. Can he do any of this? I cannot find the MCL that enables him to.
