Well no, depends where you are from? If he does hopefully your fianc�e will be willing enough to escape the hands of your father and be more independent. If your father goes nutters than you have to be an independent couple. Why would he though how old are you? And of course don't give up immediately as you should show him how much you love this guy:) Your dad is gonna find out anyway if you get married so it isn't that much of a BIG deal you are grown up show him...:)
